Step through the iron doorway of 15, Grand Rue and feel yourself start to unwind in the dapple shade of the courtyard garden with the backdrop of tinkling fountain and swooping swallows. It’s the perfect place to relax after a days sightseeing with afternoon tea or a good book, we operate a book swap, or soak up some rays on the 1st floor terrace in the afternoon.
If you’re looking for peace and relaxation in elegant but informal surroundings 15, Grand Rue is for you. The house is a 19th century bourgeois “maison de maitre” which retains many of its original features. Martin and Abigail bought the house in January 2009 and set about creating a boutique Chambres D’Hotes. Luckily much of the house had not suffered the indignity of earlier restoration keeping many of the original features including a hand-gilded ceiling in the salon, marble fireplaces and terrazzo floors.
Abigail’s former work as a designer is in evidence with tranquil colours and interesting brocante finds mixed with some more modern pieces. Each suite is designed with unique character having a separate sitting room with flat screen satellite TV, complementary mini bar with welcome bottle of local wine and soft drinks, tea and Krupps coffee machine and beach bag with towels. In the bedroom you’ll find sumptuous bed linens with down pillows and silk blankets, hairdryer. In the new bathrooms with rain showers there are L’Occitane toiletries and robes. Guests also have use of the courtyard garden, sun terrace, salon and dining room the house benefits from free wifi.

With long haul fights into Toulouse, Gerona and Marseille just over 2 hours away make it a great central location to discover the south and south west of France with its variety of historic sites, scenery and culture making it possible for a different type of holiday everyday, walking in the mountains, the cultural delights of Montpellier and Pezenas or unwinding on the beach, wine tasting, the list goes on and on but its better to come and try.
