Alliston is a beautiful house in a village situated in the Aude / Languedoc area close to the magnificent walled cite of Carcassonne, Castelnaudary, Bram and Fanjeaux,as mentioned in Labyrinth by Kate Mosse.
THE ENTIRE house is more than 200 years old and fully renovated with exposed beams and rafters. The large open-plan wooden floored living room wood burning stove for winter use.
FREE WIFI, an excellent selection of books, colour TV / video / DVD, radio / CD player . A very good selection of video , DVD's , CD's , cassettes are at your disposal.
There is a full size Original 1960 's pinball machine , play station console and games and a very good selection of boxed games.
We can print out your boarding pass . Access to the internet can be arranged to open emails etc. . . . .
Bedroom 1 has a double bed , wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and two bedside units.
Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds and an extra pull out if needed, wardrobe, chest of drawers etc. . . . .
3rd sleeping area containing a single bed on the large upstairs landing that can be screened off with drapes for privacy.
A cot, highchair and baby gate are available on request . There are also childrens toys, books videos.
Bathroom consists of bath, toilet, fully tiled shower cubicle and hand basin.
The kitchen which is the same size as the living room , opens out onto the terrace and garden. Sunbeds , table , chairs , BBQ and plunge pool . The kitchen consists of gas cooker with oven, fridge / freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine, with all other necessities one needs. The dining table easily seats six and there is a cottage suite to relax in after dinner.
THE AREA
Villasavary is a typical French village with historic associations back to Roman times. The view from the large terrace and garden is truly stunning. Close by Castelnaudary has a great market every Monday and is full of stalls , shops , bars and restaurants . You can walk or cycle the towpaths of the Canal du Midi from there and even take a canal trip to Toulouse . There are Many good local restaurants with inexpensive food and fine wines . The local bar is just a few leasurely minutes stroll from the house.
With such a good geographic situation Villasavary is a perfect base for touring the region , with Carcassonne and it's magical walled cite just 30 minutes drive away. Toulouse approx 45 minutes and Andorra ( duty free ) approx 2 hours. You can visit the Mediterranean beaches of Narbonne in one hour and the borders of Spain are a Little Under 2 hours . The Canal du Midi is well worth exploring as are the historic Cathar castles . The area is excellent for golf , climbing, walking , fishing , cycling, white water rafting , canoeing , go - carting, sailing and visiting vineyards. There Is a wonderful golf course at Carcassonne During, the winter months you are just over 1 1/2hours from Mont d'Olmes ski resort and one and a half hours to the Ax Therm which is great for skiing . You are spoiled for choice whether young or old. There is also the option of just relaxing on the terrace with a good book and a glass of local wine. When you get too hot you can cool off in the plunge pool .
