About visiting the Languedoc-Roussillon region

Traditionally over-shadowed by the 'bling bling' of Provence, Languedoc is finally coming into its own in terms of tourism. French, British, German and Dutch tourists are pouring into the area, lured by superb weather, still-low property prices, and relatively untouched countryside. Montpellier is a-buzz with new shops, restaurants and cultural and tourism events. Even sleepy Narbonne and Beziers have sprung to life.

The Languedoc CrossVisitors to Languedoc are finding a region rich in history, with some of France's most impressive tourism sites - with impressive castles and abbeys sprinkled across Languedoc, from the majestic Pyrenees in the south to the Cevennes mountains in the north.
