Relocating to France

Advice on relocating and retiring to Languedoc and France

If you have plans to come and live in Languedoc-Roussillon (or indeed any other part of France), this information is for you. We have written it specifically with our region, the Languedoc, in mind, but much of what you’ll read within this section can be applied to France as a whole.

Moving to France can be fantastically exciting - the start of a whole new life chapter. It can also be incredibly stressful (we know because we’ve done it before). The secret to a (relatively) painless, successful move is preparation (“fail to prepare and you prepare to fail”, as they say).

Naturally, you’ll need to be ready for some ups and downs. Transplanting yourself – and perhaps a partner and/or family members – into a brand new context is unlikely to be plain sailing all the way.

But by reading the information contained here and on other parts of this site, you are equipping yourself with essential background. This way, when problems do arise, the chances are you will have anticipated them, and will have an idea how to tackle them or where to turn for help.

If you have questions once you’ve finished reading, try our Languedoc Forum (many of the most commonly asked questions about moving to France and living in Languedoc are covered here.

And if that fails, you can always post your own question on the Forum, or email us direct.

We hope you’ll feel encouraged and inspired to make the move to France. Wherever you choose, be it Languedoc-Roussillon or another location, we wish you…

Bon courage!

The Crème de Languedoc team.
